Reports

Any member can report another member or a single message to your staff. Staff then review the report. This page covers both sides.

Reporting a member

/report user:@member reason:Sending me scam links in DMs evidence-1:screenshot.png
  • user and reason (up to 1000 characters) are required.
  • message_link is optional. Paste a message link (right-click a message, then Copy Message Link). It must be a message in the same server.
  • evidence-1 to evidence-3 take up to three files of up to 8 MB each: PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, MP4, TXT or PDF, with a file extension that matches the type.

The bot copies your evidence files to staff, so they stay available even if you delete the originals.

Reporting a message

  1. Right-click (or long-press) the message.
  2. Choose Apps, then Report message.
  3. Explain why you are reporting it, up to 1000 characters, and submit.

The report includes a link to the message and its text.

Rules for reporters

  • You can't report yourself, the bot or other bots.
  • You have to wait 60 seconds between reports.
  • You can only have one report waiting for review about the same member. A second one gets "You already have a report about this user waiting for staff review."

When it works, you see "Report submitted (case #12). Staff will review your ticket." or, when your server doesn't use report tickets, "Report submitted (case #12) and sent to staff."

What staff see

Every report gets a case number, in the same sequence as other cases. Where the report goes depends on the setup:

  • With a reports category (set in /setup, under Tickets): the report opens a ticket in that category, with the reporter as the opener. Staff and the reporter can talk it through there, and the ticket closes like any other.
  • Without one: the report is posted in the mod log. If you have no mod log channel either, the report isn't posted anywhere in Discord. It is still recorded as a case, so staff can find it with /case or on the dashboard's Cases page.

Either way, staff get a report card showing the reported member, the reporter, when it was filed, the reason, the reported message (quoted, up to 500 characters) and the evidence file names. The files themselves are posted just below the card. The card ends with the review state and two buttons: Valid and Dismiss.

Report tickets follow the limits of the ticket category you pick as the reports category, such as its maximum open tickets per member.

Reviewing a report

Press Valid if the report was right, or Dismiss if it needs no action. The card updates to show who reviewed it and when, the buttons disappear, and the mod log gets an entry. You can also review from the case page on the dashboard.

  • Reviewing needs Moderate Members.
  • You can't review your own report, or a report about yourself.
  • A review can't be changed afterwards. If two people press at once, the first one counts and the other is told it was already reviewed.

Marking a report valid doesn't punish anyone by itself. Use the moderation commands for that.

How reports count

A report only counts against a member once it is marked valid. Pending and dismissed reports don't show in /history or the member's profile counts, but you can still look them up with /case or on the dashboard.
